Here’s a preview.

SLAM: Were you ever bitter toward us?
AI: Who? SLAM? Come on, man. The top loyal people as far as media throughout my career?! I mean, anything SLAM needs from me would be done. I’ll never forget what SLAM did for me. SLAM gave me a whole new, different fanbase. That magazine made me more popular than what I was doing out there on the basketball court. Kids still talk about it. Kids still have the magazine. My manager told me about you, I said, Man, are you serious? I would love to do it for SLAM. You’ve always been loyal to me.
SLAM: The media has their opinion. Older NBA fans may have their opinion. But the kids have always stood by you, right?
AI: That’s one of the best things about my life, the way kids feel about me. And not just kids, I’m talking about these young guys that play in the NBA. When I see them, they grew up on me. The way they react to me is the same way I react to Michael Jordan when I see him, or Magic Johnson, Charles Barkley, Isiah Thomas. When I see those guys, it’s just like being a kid in a candy store.
SLAM: And I see some of your game in the current crop of guys.
AI: Yeah, I mean it’s the same style. My whole thing is, I wanted to jump like Michael. I wanted to pass like Magic. I wanted to be fast like Isiah. I wanted to rebound like Barkley. I wanted to shoot like Bird [laughs]. I mean, you put all of that into one thing and there you go, you try to run with it. And I had to do this at this height; obviously they were doing that at another height. It’s like kids and young guys look up to me, that’s how I look up to those guys, the same way. And it just going to keep going on and on.
SLAM: You feel like you’ve got a lot of ball left in you?
AI: I think the sky’s the limit for me. That’s my whole personal thing that’s going to go on, just trying to get back and let the fans know I belong and am capable of exciting them like I’ve been doing for all of these years.
SLAM: You think anyone is going to give you the chance?
AI: [Deep breath] I don’t know. We’re going to work hard at it, but like I said, if it doesn’t happen, I promise you I won’t sit home on my ass. I won’t do that. I’ll play for somebody.
On that note HAPPY 36TH BIRTHDAY ALLEN IVERSON.

Derrick Rose is expected to play in tomorrow’s Game 5 in the United Center after spending his weekend on a protective boot. Rose almost caused heart attacks all over Chicago when he landed badly on his ankle causing him to hop around and miss a few minutes to go to the locker room. He did finish out the game but did not participate in practice. But his team is confident that he will be suited and not booted tomorrow as they hope to end the series.

Last night Laker fans shared that nervous feeling with Chicago as Kobe Bryant came hopping off the floor after bending his left ankle. Bryant says he is ok but was too hurt to even manage his way to the press conference and left the arena on crutches. Bryant will have an MRI today and he is also expected to play tomorrow in Los Angeles as they try to come out on top of the New Orleans Hornets. What did you expect? A sore ankle can’t keep Kobe down, we all know he plays through injuries! I mean look at his finger! So not many worries in LA.

The Bulls finished their season with a 72-10 record and 878 winning percentage. Their 72nd win came against the Bullets in a 10 point advantage. It was also their 33rd road victory which was another record in itself, the most ever in any team season. This 72-10 record surpassed that of the 1972 Lakers who finished 69-13.

In that game on April 21, 1996, Michael Jordan set a record winning his eighth NBA scoring title after netting 2,491 points in 82 games averaging 30.4 ppg.

Also, on this date 15years ago, Orlando’s Dennis Scott set an NBA single season record by making his 267th three-point shot. And second place was set as well when Dallas’ George McCloud made his 257th three-pointer.

Utah’s John Stockton scored his ninth consecutive NBA assist title by giving 916 assists in 82 games.

Denver’s Dikembe Mutombo became the first player to lead in blocks for three consecutive seasons. He blocked an average of 4.49 bpg giving him 332 blocks in 74 games.

Hopefully some history is made today in the Chicago @ Indiana game at 7pm et on NBAtv and CSNC(for Chicagoans). Maybe Miami @ Philadelphia can set some records at 8pm et on TNT. Or we can find something to look back at in the Dallas @ Portland game at 10:30pm et on TNT.

*Chauncey Billups may have possibly injured a ligament in his knee and is scheduled to have an MRI later today. He is still a question mark for Game 3 on Friday in their very own Garden.. New Yorkers and Knicks fans are more than likely praying that question is answered soon because they are trailing 2-0 to the Boston Celtics after another nailbiting loss in Boston on Tuesday.

*Darren Collison says he is playing on Thursday as they open up their home post-season opener in Indiana against the Chicago Bulls. Collison sprained his ankle after a small collision with a camera man in Chicago in Game 2. Although his coach isn’t too sure about him playing in Game 3, Collison stated, “It’s a real good chance.”

*Amare Stoudemire, who left after 17 minutes of playing with back spasms, is expected to welcome the Celtics to New York in Game 3 according to Coach Mike D’Antoni.

*Coach Pop says that Manu Ginobli is a game time decision. Ginobli was ready to play Game 1 but was not allowed. But Pop is weighing that option out for tonight. “He’s getting better every day, getting a little more extension, able to do more. It will be a game-time decision,”

*Arron Afflalo is out yet another game for the Denver Nuggets. “I made a mistake once. I made a mistake twice. I made a mistake three times,” Afflalo said of having come back before when the hamstring wasn’t fully healed. “It’s not healed. It not me sitting back and relaxing. I’ve tried three straight times.” He expects to play this series, the only question is when?

*Carmelo Anthony’s 42 points in Game 2 against Celtics helped him become the first Knick to score over 40 points since Patrick Ewing in their Game 3 against Pistons on May 12, 1990. Anthony also passed his own career record of rebounds of 12 by getting 17 rebounds. His 30 field goal attempts is a new playoff career mark. Wonder if New York is saying he failed them now?

*Rajon Rondo had his highest playoff game scoring 30 points leading the Celtics two games over the Knicks.

*Dirk Nowitzki dropped 13 of 13 free throws in the fourth quarter in Game 1 tying Michael Jordan’s record in 1991.

And just a quick reminder we have 3 games tonight!

Denver Nuggets looking to tie the series up with the OKC Thunder at 8et on TNT.

Will Memphis Grizzlies grab another win tonight against the Western #1 San Antonio Spurs? Or will Spurs be able to pull through tonight and grab a much needed W? Find out at 8:30et on NBAtv.

Will Lakers be able to even the series out with the New Orleans Hornets or will Chris Paul rally his 7th seed team to another victory over the reigning champions in the Staple Center tonight at 10:30et on TNT?

Steve Nash was the latest victim of Nicki’s assets. Last night, the I Am Music Tour made its stop at the US Airways Arena in Phoenix. I guess this is the place to be for ball players. Nash was called on stage, wearing his tightest shirt, and like his NBA brethren, CP3, he also looked like he didn’t want it to end.

Teammate Jared Dudley seemed to be really excited about it too. He tweeted about it using a good 500 exclamation points.

JaredDudley619 Jared Dudley

At this concert @NICKIMINAJ just gave @SteveNash a lap dance!!!!! Lmao!!! I told him !!!!!!!!

Dudley would have definitely been scared to get up there.

I wonder what coaches and players were thinking when Mike Leake didn’t make it to practice today. I bet it wasn’t that he had been arrested just two hours before he was to show up, the starter for the Cincinnati Reds was arrested.

So, you think, superstar baseball player, pulling in nearly 500,00 a year [which isn’t crazy, but more than enough at 23]. What would he get arrested for? Drunk driving? Loud partying? Fight? No… Leake was arrested for stealing six shirts with a total value of $59.88.  He was charged with first-degree misdemeanor which carries a maximum sentence of 180 days in jail.

The police report indicated that Leake removed the price tag off the t-shirts and tried to leave without paying.

Despite this stupid decision, baseball wise, Leake is a star. On Saturday, he started and got the Reds an 11-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Reds have been relying on Leake this season due to Johnny Cueto and Homer Bailey’s shoulder injuries. In 2009 he won the Pac-10 Pitcher of the Year award for the second time, becoming the first ever back to back winner.

The Reds organization released the following statement:

“On behalf of the Cincinnati Reds organization, at this time we are advised to not publicly address this matter because of the pending legal proceedings. However, we do not condone behavior of the type alleged, which is wholly inconsistent with the principles of this organization and our community and is detrimental to the positive direction we seek to follow. When the legal process has been completed, we will handle this matter internally.”

Hopefully things work out for him. This was a really stupid move.
